Dream Job
  • Me: I just want all of the people I love to work at the same place, live in the same town, and be close to me all the time. Is that too much to ask?
  • Chad: no
  • Me: Phew. For a minute there, I thought I was being too demanding.
  • Chad: it's just too much to reasonably get
  • Me: : /

Feelings
  • Me: Feelings are hard, Chad.
  • Chad: Feelings aren't hard unless you expect people to guess them.
  • Chad: Then they are hard and exhausting.
  • Me: That is very wise and totally true.
  • Me: I guess what's really hard is mind-reading.

True that.

Sometimes I feel like I know exactly what I want but I’m never going to get it and my chest squeezes my lungs a tiny bit.

“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality…I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.” —Martin Luther King Jr., from the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech.

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing Sufjan Stevens

1.	Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
	Tune my heart to sing thy grace;
	Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
	Call for songs of loudest praise.
	Teach me some melodious sonnet,
	Sung by flaming tongues above.
	Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it,
	Mount of thy redeeming love.

2.	Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
	Hither by thy help I'm come;
	And I hope, by thy good pleasure,
	Safely to arrive at home.
	Jesus sought me when a stranger,
	Wandering from the fold of God;
	He, to rescue me from danger,
	Interposed his precious blood.

3.	O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here's my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for thy courts above.

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.
- John Lennon”

Best Scone Recipe → harpercollinscatalogs.com

Alice’s Tea Cup in NYC is (a) the cutest tea/scone/sandwich place I’ve ever visited and (b) makes the best scones I’ve ever tasted.  I recently made their Mixed Berry Scone recipe, which is delicious.  I’ll likely try a using a bit less buttermilk next time as they were really difficult to work with (i.e. super sticky).  Regardless, they turned out really well.
